Guide

How to play Crimefloor

Crimefloor is a detective game you play in the browser. Every case is an original mystery (a murder, a heist or a fraud) laid out as evidence on a 3D floor. You read it, test your theory and make one accusation. Here is how a case goes, start to finish.

1. Open the case file

The briefing sets the scene: where and when it happened, who the victim is and who the suspects are. Press Begin to start the clock, or look around the floor first. You have 20 minutes on a Watson case, 40 on Moriarty and 60 on Holmes, and once the clock starts it keeps running even if you close the tab.

2. Read the evidence

Every suspect and every location is a cluster of cards on the floor: witness statements, text messages, receipts, CCTV stills, voicemails, logs and maps. Fly into a cluster to read it. Some cards only drop while the clock runs, so check back.

3. Pin up to six cards

Pin the cards that matter to your notebook, up to six at a time. You are looking for two cards that contradict each other: a statement the timeline cannot allow, a receipt that puts someone in the wrong place.

4. Rule out suspects

Cross off the suspects whose stories hold up. Everyone has something to hide; only one of them did it. Ruling out is your own note, so you can change your mind.

5. Take a hint if you are stuck

A hint points you in the right direction and costs 100 points. Free players get one hint per case, Pro players three.

6. Make one accusation

When you are sure, accuse: choose the culprit, the motive and exactly two pieces of evidence: the lie, and the card that proves it's a lie. You get one accusation per case, so make it count.

7. Read your score

Each case is scored out of 1000: 600 for the right culprit, 200 for the motive and 100 for each of the two key cards, minus hints and slow time after the first quarter of your time. Close it inside that first quarter for gold, inside half your time for silver. If the deadline passes first the trail goes cold: 0 points, though you can still accuse off the record and see the truth.

8. Share the verdict

Your case report shows your time, hints, score and three squares for culprit, motive and proof, and nothing that gives the case away. Post it on X and dare your friends to beat it.
